Guided mountain bike tour; new for 2017!21st February 2017
The first fully guided and supported mountain bike tour of the Pennine Bridleway will take place this September. The new tour is being run by Peak Pedalling, and will take place from the 22nd to the 25th September 2017. Dave Tracey who is running the tour said:
"I’ve been a long time fan of the PBW but surprised to find that there’s a lack of companies offering a fully supported trip - so I’m taking the plunge and running one myself! I need to get between 4 and 8 customers booked on to make it viable, and then assuming it goes well I’d like to run at least two tours a year. I’ve guided and led cycle tours for other companies for several years, but this is my first commercial effort under my own company banner."
The first tour will tackle the whole 177 miles in four days, from Wirksworth to Kirkby Stephen, and is aimed at experienced mountain bikers who are used to a full day in the saddle. If you have a group of 6-8 friends or family that would like to ride together, then Dave will also run private tours to meet your requirements.
The Pennine Bridleway is the longest way-marked mountain bike route in England, passing through two national parks as it makes its way north from Derbyshire to Cumbria. There’s plenty of climbing and spectacular scenery along the way, with each of the four days having it’s own character. There’s every kind of trail, from disused railway lines, grassy tracks to rocky singletrack. In fact the only thing it’s lacking in is tarmac!
