Farnham Walk Fest. Chapels & Chalk- A Pilgrimage to Chilworth4th April 2017
We’re very pleased to announce that bookings are now open for the Farnham Walk Festival 21st- 28th May 2017. In partnership with the Surrey Hills Society we will be leading a 14 mile jaunt on Saturday 27th May along the trail from Farnham to Chilworth with a number of visits to historical locations to hear from local experts. Walkers should book online and bring a packed lunch. A reasonable level of fitness will be required to complete this walk.
Meeting at the start of the North Downs Way at the junction of A31 and Station Hill in Farnham the walk begins with a short loop of Farnham Town centre before heading into the countryside along the National Trail. Stopping at Puttenham eco barn for refreshments and a quick tour of St John the Baptist with a longer lunch break at Watts Chapel on Downs Lane.
The walk continues across the Wey Naviagation and visits the remains of St Catherines Chapel, continuing through the Chantries and up to the Church of St Martha on the Hill to take in the breath taking views over Albury. The final leg passes through Newlands Corner where Agatha Christie staged her disappearance in 1926 and onto Chilworth Gunpowder Mills where our final talk will take place. The walk terminates at the The Percy Arms, Chilworth around 5:30pm.
Trains and buses back to Guildford/ Farnham.
Walkers coming in groups may consider leaving cars at each end of the walk.
Bring plenty of water and a packed lunch. http://www.farnham.gov.uk/things-to-do/walks-and-countryside/walkingfestival
